Just in case you missed them, here are some of the recent popular threads form our forums:
- New playable races you'd want in WOTLK - zmoericke asks what race we'd play out of all the races in WoW. Most people seem to want Goblins, i quite like Vrykul.
- Patch 2.4.2 Undocumented Changes - List of things that have changes in the patch, but weren't mentioned on the official patch notes.
- Riding training - A simple question from Megaboven about making enough gold to get your first mount, turns into a very informative thread about how to make a tidy sum in your early levels. Also, see Making money at the low levels? by Mtal.
- How many hero classes will there be? - zmoericke again, and this time he starts off a discussion about all the possible Hero classes.
- Anybody have a Good Battle plan for Alliance in AV? - Title speaks for itself, does Alliance even know the meaning of the word?! Another good thread from Wartro.
- My first Kara Run - Calanon shares his experience of his first Kara run. It's easy to see why Karazhan is still the most popular raid in WoW :)
- My account expires tomorrow - not sure if I should re-subscribe - Time for a break from WoW? Khab discusses this with many of us who have had some time out and found it sometimes refreshing.
- Diablo 3 and WWI in June - Asteria asks if you'd leave WoW for Diablo III if it gets announced any time soon.
- Lich King Release Date - Vivendi Let Slip - Blizzard's parent company announce when Lich King is scheduled for release - oops.

Death and Taxes Disband
16th May 2008 12:42 PM GMT by Maticus 10 comments
Some sad news for anyone who's been around since the start of WoW, as this guild name will surely ring a bell; A top US raiding guild, Death and Taxes has disbanded.
There has been no official announcement yet, but the front page of the Death and Taxes website is displaying a banner that reads "Rest in Peace Death and Taxes Beta 2004 - May 2008", which then goes on to list all their World first and US first kills, the most recent one being Illidan Stormrage almost 1 year ago.
The date of their last "first" perhaps goes a long way in explaining why the guild decided to call it quits. According to a source, D&T were having trouble keeping members after killing Illidan, with nothing new to try until recently when Sunwell came out, but by that time a lot of the damage had been done; A mass recruiting drive to make up the members they had lost resulted in a lower level of raiding quality than they were used to, and they found Sunwell a lot harder than they should have.
This must have been the last nail in the coffin for them. It's always sad to see things come to an end, but who knows, maybe we'll see something better rise from the ashes - word is, a lot of them are re-rolling Horde on the Blackrock server.

New M'uru Content Page
15th May 2008 11:06 PM GMT by Maticus 0 comments
I've put together a content page on M'uru, the darkened Naaru in Sunwell Plateau. There's a bit of history about him, and of course, the page lists all the loot he drops. This list will be updated when he's been killed a few times, as no doubt there are items we haven't seen yet.
Also, don't forget we've got a pretty hefty page that lists all the Sunwell loot from all the bosses, and includes many facts about the instance itself.
Finally, just a reminder that we have over 2500 articles in our content pages about a wide range of WoW topics including all the Professions, Classes, Lore and zones, and we're constantly adding new things. If you have a few minutes to kill, go take a look! You can even add stuff yourself if you fancy it :)

BlizzCast #3 in Production
15th May 2008 09:33 PM GMT by Maticus 2 commentsShe explained that the production had been held up due to "unforeseen delays", which may have been the build up to the Lich King Presentation last week and/or preparation for next month's World Wide Invitational. She also defends herself and others over accusations that BlizzCasts are a bit too scripted.
We can only speculate what BlizzCast #3 might contain, but hopefully there will be more news about Lich King and StarCraft II.
If you haven't heard the previous BlizzCasts, in which various members of Blizzard talk about different aspects of their games, you can check them out over at Blizzard's dedicated page.
Here's what Neth had to say about the whole BlizzCast issue:
Blizzard Quote: (Source) |

| A third one is in the works. We just had some unforeseen delays we had to work out. We definitely want to make these more regular releases, however, they depend heavily on getting many people and resources together. I'm a part of the BlizzCast process (you can hear me in the second one). We have never stated this would be weekly, though we would like to be consistent on monthly releases. We've only released two BlizzCasts so far and we are still nailing down a process that works best for us. I personally listen to many podcasts and think they are great, but they definitely work within different constraints than we do. We're doing what we can to get these out to you and hoping we can just keep improving with every release of it. We don't mind constructive criticism. I'd like to think that we've already begun improving, and hope you'll hear it in the next BlizzCasts. ;) Keep in mind, this is something we haven't done before and I personally have never done podcasts. I'm used to working in text and in live free-flow sort of events. We're adjusting to the medium and only anticipate getting more comfortable with it as we do it more. We have plenty of things to talk about and more things about the company we'd like to highlight for people, but these things also take a good amount of production time. We're working on that, however. Feedback noted. ;) Just admit you want to hear more of Bornakk's dulcet tones and get it over with. |

Archimonde Possibly Bugged
15th May 2008 02:53 PM GMT by Nkara 3 comments
Several guilds have reported that Archimonde, last boss in Mount Hyjal, is now significantly harder and a real challenge for guilds that pre-patch had the fight on farm status, which makes the fight extremely hard for progressing guilds.
Although the change was listed in the undocumented patch notes it doesn't seem to be intended and last night a hotfix was applied to US servers:
Yet, no official announcements on the EU forums, but hopefully we will see the hotfix applied to EU servers very soon too.
Update: The hotfix is now also live on EU servers.

| We just implemented a hotfix for all realms that makes Archimonde's doomfires no longer be able to move right through him after they spawn. Their movement should now be much more consistent with the previous patch's behavior, and melee should have a bit easier time dodging the doomfires as a result of the change. There have been other reports of odd behavior in the encounter since the 2.4.2 patch, but this is the only problem we've been able to verify locally. We'll continue to monitor reports of unusual behavior in this encounter, and investigate further as needed. | ||

Lich King Release Date - Vivendi Let Slip
14th May 2008 11:08 PM GMT by Maticus 28 commentsThe report on the first quarter of 2008 shows that Vivendi have a revenue of 5.3 Billion Euros, which is an increase of 5.2% compared to this time last year. It also says that it has been a "Very Good First Quarter", and states that WoW's subscriber base is now 10.7 million. However, in the first section on page one, it says quite clearly that Wrath of the Lich King is due to be released this year:
Very good operating achievements were offset by non recurring or calendar impacts: the first quarter of 2007 included notably the successful launch of the first expansion set World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade (the second expansion set is anticipated to be released in the second half of 2008) and the favorable settlement of a tax litigation.
And just in case that's too wishy-washy for you, further down, in a section about Vivendi Games, it repeats the statement:
A comparison of the first quarters of 2007 and 2008 performances is not representative because the first quarter of 2007 included the hugely successful release of World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade. Blizzard Entertainment’s second expansion, World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King, is scheduled to be released in the second half of 2008. Consequently, Vivendi Games’ revenues for the first quarter of 2008 are 24.1% lower (-18.2% on a constant currency basis) when compared to the same period last year. Vivendi Games’ revenues was €221 million.
At least we know now that there's a large chance we'll see Lich King this year, though knowing Blizzard, I still wouldn't be surprised if we had to wait a little bit longer :)
